PHILIP ANSELMO's SUPERJOINT RITUAL To Reunite For Appearance At HOUSECORE HORROR FILM FESTIVAL

August 19, 2014

Former PANTERA and current DOWN frontman Philip Anselmo's SUPERJOINT RITUAL project will reunite for an appearance at this year's edition of Anselmo and best-selling true crime author Corey Mitchell's groundbreaking horror-meets-metal extravaganza, the Housecore Horror Film Festival, which will be held October 23-26 in Emo's in Austin, Texas. For legal reasons, the band will perform at the event under the abbreviated moniker SUPERJOINT.

Anselmo is keeping a lid on the details at this time, but did state: "If people want to hear SUPERJOINT jam a badass set, then we're all for giving the people what they want! You wanna hear it? Then bring your asses to Austin, Texas, this October 23-26!"

Asked at the 2011 edition of the Sweden Rock Festival if there was any possibility of a SUPERJOINT RITUAL reunion at some point in the future, Anselmo replied: "Absolutely a hundred percent no fucking way. I know some people like that band, but there's too many sour feelings, too much bad business and I don't take steps backwards anymore, I'm fucking running forward. You hear me? Good."

SUPERJOINT RITUAL's sophomore album, "A Lethal Dose Of American Hatred", was released in July 2003 via Sanctuary. Anselmo described his band's songs as "short blasts of hardcore blood" and said, to those who weren't around to witness AGNOSTIC FRONT and early SLAYER, "We're givin' you a fuckin' beautiful example of what it was like."
